Dapper flycatcher with a distinctly large-headed, large-eyed appearance. Not readily mistaken for any other species: combination of gray head, orange-brown body, and distinct pale eyering are unique. Perches at mid-height in forest openings, often next to running water, sallying out periodically to snag insects.
