Identification

Attractive cuckoo endemic to Cocos Island, located in the Pacific Ocean about 300 miles southwest of mainland Costa Rica. It has tawny underparts, brown upperparts, chestnut wings, black mask, and yellow on the bottom of its bill. Tail feathers have broad, white tips that flash conspicuously as it clambers along branches. Inhabits rainforest, and is quite scarce compared to most other resident birds on the island.
