Attractive reddish-brown babbler with a gray head and bright blue bare skin around the eye. Vocalizing birds can also show a round patch of similarly colored blue skin on the neck. Typically encountered foraging low in the undergrowth of both primary and logged lowland and foothill evergreen forests, often in small to medium-sized flocks. Gives noisy rattling and chipping call notes. Song is an ethereal, owl-like series of hooting trills.
