Identification

Small, slim wheatear. Males striking: black wings contrast with a yellowish back and crown and black mask. Throat can be white or black. In eastern race the crown and back are very pale. Females rather nondescript warm yellowish brown but may ghost the male plumage with a darkish throat. Found in open habitats with scattered trees, rocky mountain slopes, and barren pastures.
