Identification

Scarce tanager found in cloud forest along the east slope of the Andes. Plumage is black and turquoise with a conspicuous blue eyebrow and a peach-colored belly. It might be confused with Metallic-green Tanager, but black on face is much more extensive and connects with black back. Forages at middle to upper forest levels and frequently joins mixed-species flocks.
