October eBirder of the Month challenge
This October’s eBirder of the Month challenge, sponsored by Carl Zeiss Sports Optics, is all about birding on October Big Day! Earlier this year, on Global Big Day, we noted 7,013 species together as a global birding community. On Saturday, can we see more than half of the world’s birds on the first October Big Day? The eBirder of the month will be drawn from eBirders who submit 3 or more eligible checklists on 6 October. Winners will be notified by the 10th of the following month.
On 6 October, will you join thousands of birders around the world for the first October Big Day? You don’t have to commit to all 24 hours-just an hour or even 10 minutes counts as participating. Visit your favorite spot or search out someplace new; enjoy a solo walk or get some friends to join in the fun. Of course, if you want a chance at free binoculars, you should do at least three eligible checklists! No matter where you are, we’re confident you can get some great birds on 6 October. Let’s see what we can find!
Each month we will feature a new eBird challenge and set of selection criteria. The monthly winners will each receive a new ZEISS Conquest HD 8×42 binocular. In addition, don’t forget about the 2018 Checklist-a-day Challenge—can you submit 365 eligible checklists this year?
