New Hampshire Audubon's Local Birdathon Challenge

While we’re being asked to stay home, the same can’t be said of the birds that brighten both our lives and the spring skies. May 9 is World Migratory Bird Day, and to celebrate the return of migrant birds to the Granite State, NH Audubon is once again conducting our Birdathon, with a LOCAL twist.

Birdathon 2020 is a celebration of LOCAL birding, whether it occurs in your yard, your town, or within walking range. Instead of teams competing against each other for high species totals and bragging rights, we’re all in this one together. The contest is only against ourselves, and the more people we have the better we’ll do, and perhaps set a bar we can try to overcome in a future year. The goal is simple: How many species we can COLLECTIVELY find within New Hampshire on May 9.

Now, more than ever, the natural world is a source of comfort, healing, and strength. As you join us in celebrating Birdathon 2020, we ask you to think back on a time when seeing a particular bird or just being outside made your life a little better. If you’re feeling grateful during Birdathon, please consider making a gift to support NH Audubon, and consider reaching out to friends and family for donations. We make it easy to donate on our webpage, and will make it equally easy for participants to submit their sightings.
