I scoped the surrounding pools and pannes from a roadside parking area. Light rain and hazy conditions with temperatures in the mid 50s. A Wilson's phalarope was a highlight species as it foraged in the near pools for 20 minutes.

Comments: A relatively large phalarope with small head, longish slender neck and black needle-like bill. Pale gray from crown through wings and mantle; white face, belly and rump. Long yellow legs. The bird foraged close-by, running at times to capture small prey items. Possibly in adult non-breeding plumage.
