Identification

POWERED BY MERLIN

A dark swift lacking any white on the lower back. Note the white edges to the feathers of the belly, which gives it the appearance of having scales. This contrasts strongly with the solid black undertail. Very like young Common Swift, but the Dark-rumped Swift appears to have a darker face and a longer, more deeply forked tail. Best seen around waterfalls, steep cliffs, and ledges in areas with dense forests.
