What's on in December

Winter has now settled in, and so have many migrants. Birders from across the country are reporting expected and unexpected species and this season has been absolutely riveting thus far. No wonder, then, that the 3 most active states on eBird have already had over 2400 checklists submitted (as compared to 1300 same time last year!). What birds can you expect in your region at this time of the year? Do check out the eBird bar charts to find out.

Events and Challenges

An eBird and bird monitoring workshops will be held in Porbandar on 17 December 2017. Do check out the Facebook event for more details. The third Birding Buddies Workshop – a half day workshop for bird educators will be held in Goa on 10 December 2017.

The Delhi eBirders’ meet-up was organised in late November, would any other region with eBirders like to organise a meet-up this month?

The monthly eBirding Challenge for December focusses on uploading as many lists with media as possible. If you have been using the eBird Mobile app, then you would have noticed the introduction of track recording being made available for both Android as well as iOS phones. The global eBirder of the Month Challenge asks users to upload 15 or more lists using the new track recording option.

The year is now drawing to a close and we wish everyone the best of birding to end the year with!
