About eBird India

India-outline-vulture-280The eBird India portal is designed for the use of birders and eBirders from India. Keep visiting for news and events regarding birding in India and for tips and tricks to make your eBirding more useful and rewarding.

The eBird India portal is managed by Bird Count India, a partnership of a large number of organizations and groups working to increase our collective understanding of the distribution, abundance, and population trends of Indian birds. We do this by encouraging birders to maintain complete birdlists and uploading them to eBird; by conducting periodic bird events and projects; by offering support and resources to birding groups conducting their own projects; and by putting together useful information on bird monitoring. Here is a list of our partners.

Please visit the Bird Count India website to see a more detailed description of our objectives, a listing of all our partners, and updates on bird documentation and monitoring in India.

If you have any comments or questions, or need help with using eBird or with a documentation or monitoring project, please Contact Us.

  • Publications

When you submit a checklist to eBird, you make your observations available to the global community of researchers, educators, conservationists, birders, and anyone else with an interest in birds. These data are freely available for download here.

  • Sensitive Species Committee

In October 2017, eBird set up a system whereby species could be marked as sensitive , which means that the location uploaded by the birder is masked from eBird public output. Details on the criteria and on the list of sensitive species are provided here.

  • Resources

Learn about some of eBird's most valuable resources for birders, young birders, and more.

  • eBird Terms & Conditions

We all use a large number of software programmes on our computers and phones, but do we read the Terms and Conditions before clicking ‘I Accept’? The length of the text, the legal jargon and the complicated sentences can hinder a clear understanding of what we are agreeing to.
