What follows is from Birds of North America account: "Flap Flight Display is highest intensity of flight displays, where male lurches through air with exaggerated flapping producing whom-whoom-whoom sound, neck crooked, legs dangling, skow ing, crest, neck, and scapular feathers erect, sometimes giving roo-roo calls before landing."
