pelagic trip w/ Andrew Spencer and Tropical Birding group, plus many local birders and photographers. Overall fairly calm, light wind, ~15-20ft swell but very slow and quite comfortable. Possible SEI WHALE (?) seen briefly on way back in, gave a rather short blow and had a rather tall, hooked dorsal fin

  23. black-and-white shearwater sp.

    Number observed: 1

Details: Either Little or Manx. Distant and quick view of a small shearwater with quick wingbeats, and my impression at the time was of a somewhat shorter and perhaps rounder-winged bird than Manx with pretty extensive white underwings and the hint of a whiter face. However, given the bright sunlight, I don't think Manx can be comfortably eliminated.
