Details: It was snowing. I noticed a bird that I couldn't positively identify. At first I thought it may be a song sparrow or a type of sparrow. I took pictures from inside my home. (I use my phone so the quality isnt great) It was mainly brown and had a white and brown spotted belly, with a white eyebrow mark eating from the pole feeder. It was larger than a goldfinch. I'd say 5-6inces tall.

(At the time I saw the male in the pics I thought maybe it was a female "house" finch. I referred to an older bird book I have called, Beginners Guide to Birds- Eastern Region. Now I am thinking it may be a female purple finch.) My 13 yr old son was watching the birds with me.

Shortly afterwards we saw what I believed to be a male house finch. I took pictures of him and uploaded them. (I received an email from Cornell following up on my sighting and informing me that it was actually a male PURPLE FINCH.)

I am going to upload some of the other pictures of the 1st sighting maybe 10 mins prior to the male showing up because I now believe it could have been a female purple finch. I won't update the count to "2 sightings" until it is confirmed. I apologize for submitting incorrect information, I know the importance of data collection and the need for true and accurate information to be collected. Things have been stressful with all this covid 19 virus happening so I apologize for any incorrect data I may have unknowingly submitted.
