Details: Large gray bird first seen as gray lump; it eventually raised its head to show a very large bill and head with a red crown. It differed from Great Blue Herons by having a nearly uniform gray color overall; also, the “bustle feathers” were clearly seen as the bird bent to feed and were the reason it initially appeared as a gray “lump” when it’s head was down. Initially viewed with spotting scope w/ 20-60 zoom eyepiece.
