Details: Awesome. I was waiting for civil twilight, hoping for a SEOW to appear in the adjacent field with no luck. Was about to leave when I heard movement about 10ft away, and out popped a very backlit Asio owl from maybe 2ft up in the bush into a snag. It flew at my head and circled me twice, at which point I noted the stiffer and bouncier flight of a LEOW and long ear tufts. It landed about 50ft away, and I was able to get better looks at the orange facial disks, which sealed the deal. It sat watching me for so long I was able to go into my car, put my camera on my tripod, and get my settings all figured out! It then flew in to about 30ft and perched on an eye-level snag to inspect me closer, and I managed a couple long exposures. Very dark markings on this bird and fairly large for an Asio, probable adult female. Year bird #300 for the state.
