  6. blackbird sp.

    Number observed: 200

Details: This sighting was of a large flock of blackbrids that flew around 20 metres overhead and perched beyond my view near the area where Ruisseau La Loutre meets Lac La Pêche. The flock was split into two large groups but both were flying in the same direction. The main noise made by the flock was a very loud chorus of "chuk" type calls that are made by both common grackles and red-winged blackbirds. I was able to identify a few individuals as common grackles, either by their silhouette or by their occasional use of their squeaky song (https://academy.allaboutbirds.org/peterson-field-guide-to-bird-sounds/?speciesCode=comgra&species=Common%20Grackle%20-%20Quiscalus%20quiscula). These identified individuals are accounted for as common grackles in this list. Note that I did hear red-winged blackbirds singing in the area later that day.
