Watching for migrating hawks and passerines with Ed Haesche and Dan Barvir. 8-12mph wind most of the day, generally from the north. Another good day for migrating osprey, many of them following one another in groups of 2 to 5. Most began to move once the light rain stopped and the northern winds picked up. Local hawks include 3 Osprey, 1 Cooper's Hawk, 2 Red-tailed Hawks, and 2 Peregrine Falcons together. Near 100% cloud cover most of the day made for easy spotting. Passerines migrated in between the drizzling rain during the first two-three hours. Once the rain ceased, about five waves of 100-200 tree swallows passed by, sometimes flying very close to each other as if they were preparing to swirl.

Details: Includes 25 migrating flocks of 10 to 150 birds in the morning that I could not identify either because they didn't call or poor lighting due to the overcast sky. Could have been Cedar Waxwings, Bobolinks, Cowbirds, finches, or something else. They weren't Red-winged Blackbirds.
