Comments: Bird in photo banded with black color band on right leg and metal band on left. Born 2010 and banded on the Farallones, I think.

Comments: Sitting alone on the beach, about 50 feet from large flock of gulls. Small tern with short, straight, all-reddish bill with no dark showing on the tip. Very short legs which are dark reddish. Outer primaries have whitish underside. Grayish underparts. Legs reddish and relatively short. According to Alvaro Jaramillo, if this were a Common Tern, the inner primaries would be fresh and not show even wear as these do.
