Observations

  1. Number observed: 1

Details: A white bird was observed initially naked eye at a fairly high elevation. It was flying fast and directly in a north south direction that followed close to the Silver City Highway. It was not flapping its wings as would a Corella or Cockatoo and it was alone. I got my binoculars onto it quickly and saw a white belly, white under wings with fine darkish tips to the fairly pointy wings. Its body appeared stockier as did the wings than would a kestrel's. The tail appeared totally white - there was neither dark nor suggestion of rufous. The flight was direct without wing action in the 60 seconds that I observed it. The branches of a large eucalypt obscured it from that point onwards, and I couldn't get back onto it from a different position.
