partly cloudy, nr 60, pleasant late afternoon

rush hour traffic, sirens, etc drowned out what little bird sound there was at times, but as the walk progressed, bird activity picked up

we heard the song of a Swainson's Warbler a few times starting at 6:02 p.m., but we were never close enough to see a bird, and we did not hear it again over the next 20 or so minutes. Though it sounded like a bird projecting loudly, we cannot with 100% certainty rule out the possibility that it was another birder using playback. We were on the trail that follows the ridge of the lost hill, near the north end, when we heard it, and we went back to the main trail to see if any other birders were around; we did not encounter any. Still, we don't think this encounter warrants this as an addition to our life lists.

other birds we probably heard (but sang only once or distantly or heard with uncertainty or could not confirm by sight): NOPA, AMRE, WBNU, RBNU?, CSWA??
