Freshly burned area of Artichoke WPA. Some areas still smoldering.

  1. Number observed: 1

Details: There were several hawks working this freshly burned area of the WPA. Likely this mornings burn as a few areas were still smoldering. Observed this one light colored hawk sitting on the ground in the burn area. The bird was overall very light on the underside. A few dark spots/streaks on the breast and sides. Legs were clearly feathered all the way down to the foot. When in flight the back was uniformly dark with no obvious white spots. The hawks body appeared to be fairly long and the wings also gave the impression of being long in relation to the length of the body. Distance and lighting made it impossible to observe gape length.
