Partly-mostly sunny and mild (upper 50s) with passing low clouds pushed by sometimes gusty SW winds. Did a meandering circumnavigation of the southern half; likely missed multiple species as I was concentrating on photographic documentation of breeding birds. [Photos added]

  1. Number observed: 25

Details: Odd - tight flock flying to (and roosting in) multiple trees around the western periphery. Possibly some additional pairs (heard singing from two different areas).

Breeding Code: S Singing Bird (Possible)
  2. Number observed: 1

    Details: Singing

Breeding Code: S Singing Bird (Possible)
  3. Number observed: 5

Details: Two were 2019 models (far apart, so presumably different than the two I saw at Kobbe & Upton).

    Age & Sex:
    Juvenile Immature Adult Age Unknown
    Male 1
    Female 1
    Sex Unknown 2 1
  4. Number observed: 7

Details: One female along the west side periphery was repeatedly visiting the same area, presumably a nest (though distant in tree cover so I was unable to get close to try to find the nest).

Breeding Code: N Visiting Probable Nest Site (Probable)
    Age & Sex:
    Juvenile Immature Adult Age Unknown
    Male 4
    Female 2
    Sex Unknown 1

    Breeding Code: F Flyover (Observed)
  6. Larus sp.

    Number observed: 3

Details: Fly-overs - did not ID

  7. Number observed: 3

Details: Presumed local pair; one lorded over the area for some time, perched atop a tall evergreen to the west. Earlier an immature with odd worn and molting wings flew closer to the bay to the northeast, harassed by corvids (photo).

  8. Number observed: 1
  9. Number observed: 1
  10. Number observed: 2

Details: Pair seemingly laying claim to the group of three small trees at the south end, making all kinds of vocalizations. I looked in the trees briefly but did not see an obvious nest site.

Breeding Code: P Pair in Suitable Habitat (Probable)
  11. Number observed: 3
  12. Number observed: 2
  13. Number observed: 7

Details: Actively foraging above the field and also landing on the buildings lining the east side. Appeared to be two pairs (at least). Multiple nests, but I couldn't see any being actively visited.

Breeding Code: UN Used Nest (enter 0 if no birds seen) (Confirmed)
  14. Number observed: 2
  15. Number observed: 2
  16. Number observed: 11

Details: Active and vocal, many foraging along the field. One nest under construction in the vent of a building, another with cheeping (unseen) chicks being visited by a parent carrying food.

Breeding Code: NY Nest with Young (Confirmed)
  17. Number observed: 14

Details: Multiple pairs, individuals seen all over (possible undercount). One was carrying nesting material, one with worms in its beak and another with a beak full of all kinds of food.

Breeding Code: CF Carrying Food (Confirmed)
  18. Number observed: 30

Details: Fly-by tight flock (estimate by fives).

  19. Number observed: 20

Details: Best estimate, possible undercount (!). Small flocks and numerous pairs, many foraging in the field and also the vegetation to the west. One fledgling being fed. Also an active nest in the eaves of a building with young being fed.

Breeding Code: NY Nest with Young (Confirmed)

Breeding Code: P Pair in Suitable Habitat (Probable)
  22. Number observed: 1
  23. Number observed: 8

Details: Two apparent pairs and multiple additional singing males. One seen repeatedly entering dense shrubbery, likely visiting an active nest.

Breeding Code: N Visiting Probable Nest Site (Probable)
  24. Number observed: 4

Details: Two pairs along the west side. One repeatedly entering the same area in dense vegetation, likely a nest site.

Breeding Code: N Visiting Probable Nest Site (Probable)
