With Don Fraser, a visit to see what was around. Unfortunately, all but 3 of the 60+ ponds were full of water, and the other 3 were mostly dried. Still, it's a cool spot with potential for something good. The weather was sunny, cool, and breezy. We walked around the entire northern border, including around the small creek, something I had never done before. We left at 1334.

  15. Number observed: 2

    Details: Singles heard.

  16. Number observed: 4

Details: Possibly 5. We first saw 2 dark morphs far to the east; 1 went into a stoop out of our view; then we saw 2 dark morphs and 1 light morph within minutes far to the north; 1 of these also went into a stoop out of our view. Unfortunately all were too distant for usable photographs.

Given the abundance of forests and fields locally, I would expect that Short-tailed Hawk is a regular breeder.
