Comments: Aythya duck showing brown tuft on back of head, readily visible through scope. Individual had no white on face like the adjacent female Lesser Scaup, it also had no eye ring which a Ring-necked would show. The bill had a black bolt at tip similar to a Greater Scaup, but with a white ring behind it similar to Ring-necked Duck. Back was very dark, with brighter, though still dark brownish flanks. Low quality digishot below. Found by Andrew Baldelli and Tracy Tate earlier in the morning, who alerted me know of the find and location. Viewed earlier in the late morning hours and digiscoped poorly, returned with my camera to better document.
