Details: Photos of ravens actively nest building. A pair of ravens repeatedly bringing nest materials and climbing into nest and then leaving for a half hour or so before returning. The pair perched in trees and flew around the nest site and dam regularly showing their strong affinity for the location. They vocalized multiple times. The nest is surprisingly close to the busy road atop the dam. Small but exposed rock ledges and the dam itself give semblance to clifflike habitat with extensive open areas around the lake for foraging.

Details: Continuing winter treat. Seen feeding in alders at edge of field just after first stream crossing. The birds were very cooperative so we recounted multiple times to confirm the exact count as some goldfinches and up to five or six purple finches were mixed in at times though the species seperated whenever they took flight. The red caps, white underparts with thick streaking below, and small pale bill visible in some photos.
