Finally feeling good enough to get out and had some time while the girls went for a manipedi. Came here because of the mix of desert targets for NM state list potential.

Details: Previously reported at this location. I had no expectations of actually encountering this species, despite knowing they had been here. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I was walking around the middle of the park and heard high, tinkling and squeaking calls overhead. They were ephemeral and hard to pinpoint, so I spent a few moments wandering the park and not finding them. I played a little bit of call and they quickly dropped into the top of the tall deciduous trees in the middle of the park. I was able to get a brief, semi-silhouetted look at mostly gray goldfinches and thought they were a tiny bit chunky looking. They quickly departed again, down the wash and I couldn't refind them. Most of their calls were the tinkly jumbles, but they gave a couple rounds of the more regular three part ascending ch-ch-ree while they briefly stopped. I am familiar with the species from California.
