With Diana Hews, Leslie Clapp, Blaise _, and our very good boatman-guide Isaias. Took a 1-hour motorboat ride on Rio Lacantun, back and forth across river between lodge side and Reserva Montes Azules side, down to entrance of Rio Tzendales, which we poked into a short distance, then turned around. Isaias knew where interesting birds likely would be and would target certain spots, or we spotted things and went toward them. River about 100 meters broad here. Banks short and steep with gravel, or in places broad cobbly bars. Besides birds, saw alligators and howler and spider monkeys. Guanacaste trees in yellow flower, and white "spider lilies" (perhaps) with green foliage in flower along banks here and there. -- Afterward, listened to birds calling at sunset and dusk from Lodge bank and terrace.
