Wind W 5-10 kts; swell W 2–3 ft. at 8–10 secs; SST 73.0–75.9 F. Overcast until mid afternoon, then mostly sunny, air temp 75–80 F. Dave Povey, Paul Lehman, Guy McCaskie, Jimmy McMorran, Tom Blackman, Matthew Binns, Nancy Christensen, and Bruce Rideout observers, along with 53 passengers, on a 12-hour pelagic birding trip in San Diego County waters.

    Details: Small alcid, blackish above, white below, black hood extending to chin, dark underwings, tail often cocked. Photos might be available.

    Details: Medium-sized dark storm-petrel with variable white rump patch longer than it was wide: bold white on the outer edges of the rump, dirty brownish-white in the middle. Notched tail, long relatively narrow angular wings, and bounding erratic flight. Some leaders and participants may upload photos.

    Details: Wings held forward at wrist and swept back, jerky wing strokes, zigzag flight, wide pale carpal bars extending to front of wing. Extensive white rump wrapping around to under tail coverts. Hoping someone else got better photos than I did. 10:46 am
