As I generally do, I birded around the turnoff and dirt road 3 km south of the river crossing and then along the river; this time, I spent much more time in the former area. Rain had fallen during the night, but the morning was sunny, then increasing cloudy around noon. Temperatures were quite cool compared to what I usually encounter at this site.

Comments: I had taken the safe route, and registered this bird as a typical summer Sharp-shinned. But e-Bird's own monitor, Héctor Gómez de Silva, confirmed my original suspicion that this photo shows a very unusual Cooper's Hawk.

Comments: An excellent sighting; the bird flew very close to me. Unfortunately, I had my camera set to a high ISO.

Comments: Could have been a good number more. This species was the main reason for my trip, which was timed according to previous sightings.

Comments: These might have been female Sinaloas, but their undersides seemed too light to me.
