Very fast check on my way home from an event. Didn't start until sunset.

Comments: Audio recording. Continuing. Hope they stick around for further documentation during breeding season. They flew out of the same pool that is east of the 401 Edgewater building, about 20 minutes apart. This pool has a bit of grassy/mud area they may favor. Flew toward the golf course, giving scape calls.

  7. shorebird sp.

    Number observed: 1

Comments: Reviewing audio, not sure if I picked it up. Spotted or Solitary I think.

  8. heron sp.

    Number observed: 1

Comments: Not sure why this is flagged 'rare?' About 25 minutes after sunset, a mid-sized heron flew from the cattails, heading northward in a direct line. Flew up high and over the woods, exited the marsh - may have continued migrating. Looked like American Bittern, but considering there are other mid-sized heron species in the area now, I'll be safe and call this 'heron species.' I audio recorded, but unfortunately this bird wasn't calling much or at all. May have picked up one squack here, but difficult to say if this was the heron. Squacks at 9 and 10 seconds, neither cleanly heard. The only two herons I can rule out are Great Blue and Least Bittern.
