"This was the first stop for Robb [Robert A.] Hamilton, Steve [N.G.] Howell, and me on another vagrant chase to the wilds of northern and central Baja California. A few migrants were in evidence, but probably not the adult male Painted Bunting that Robb found (we saw high plumaged pairs for sale on the roadside at the border on our departure a week later).
