Upper trail at route 120 marker 16.8km. Walked about a mile on the upper trail until it was clear that the birds were quieting down (by 11am) and the trail was becoming less of trail. Hit all my targets except for PR Oriole and PR Lizard-Cuckoo. I would highly recommend this well maintained trail. Birds were very active at or just above eye-level making for exciting birdwatching. The vistas could not have been more stunning.

Per the advice of blog posts regarding visiting Maricao from the south, we did not follow Google Maps but instead took 120 North from Sabana Grande. We found our destination with no trouble (although some close calls with speeding cars on the narrow road!) and were able to start birding in Maricao just a bit more than an hour after we left Guanica.

LEPS: Puerto Rican Leafwing (1; right outside the entrance to the trail), Puerto Rican Calisto (many; all along the trail), Schaus' Swallowtail (2), Puerto Rican Harlequin (1)
