Comments: I was able to get excellent photos of this bird. They will be attached later. I viewed the vireo with my binoculars at a distance of 25 feet. The sun was at my back. I saw a bird with a vireo type (thicker than a warbler) bill, pale supercillium, gray head, dark eye, pale eyeline with white below, gray to olive gray back, dark gray wings, olive tail, pale yellow wash on sides/flanks, and white belly. The legs and feet were gray/blue. Similar species eliminated were the Philadelphia Vireo which has yellow breast, belly and vent not seen on this bird.

Comments: I tried unsuccessfully to get a photo. These birds are skulkers here.

  36. Number observed: 1

Comments: I viewed this bird from a distance of 10 feet with my binoculars and then camera. The photographs allow for clear identification even though the sun was not at my back. I saw the bright orange/yellow head and neck. The face was black around the eye and down the throat and upper breast. There were two white wing bars on the black wings. The bill was slightly decurved on this medium size oriole. The tail was black. I am familiar with this species having seen them in Texas, Washington, Oregon and Arizona. The similar species I eliminated was Altamira Oriole. This species has a single white wing bar and a yellow insert above that single wing bar.
