Event: DE Breeding Bird Atlassing...in PA. This location, despite being on the PA side of the border, falls within the boundaries of one of the DE blocks. Confusion about the state boundary has led to it not being covered too thoroughly to this point.
General: This day marked the first time out I was out birding since mangling my right elbow a few days earlier. Since my elbow did not bend properly, I had to hold the binocs and focus them entirely with my left hand. This handicap made me a little slower and less stable than usual, so I may've missed some faster-moving stuff that I might've caught otherwise. Or not.
Weather: Temps in the '60s-70s and, initially, somewhat overcast. As the sky cleared, the wind picked up a bit.
Non-bird: 1 Groundhog, 11 Eastern Gray Squirrels (incl. 4 chasing each other around a hollow tree), 1 White-tailed Deer, 1 Eastern Garter Snake (in a bush), 2+ Green Frogs (heard).

Eastern Garter Snake (WCCP)

  56. warbler sp. (Parulidae sp.)

    Number observed: 1

Details: This may belong to one of the other warbler species on this list already. Recording was not processed until 2019. I didn't leave myself any notes about it. The same warbler can be heard in the Carolina Wren recording as well, doing the exact same song with no variations. The two recordings were made 7 minutes apart. Pine Warbler is a possibility, though I did not report any on the list, and I have never encountered Pines at the park during breeding season. (WCCP is not conifer-heavy.) American Redstart would probably be the most likely suspect of the remaining handful of breeding warbler species in SE Chester county, though the consistency of the song is odd for them. I also half wonder, since I was aware Black-and-white was the most unusual of the birds on this list, mentioned the Black-and-white was singing and spent at least 7 minutes tracking this mystery singer down, if it could have been some bizarro Black-and-white song.

    Media:
  57. Number observed: 1

Details: Might've been a female present with the male as well, but she zipped away before I had a chance to prove she wasn't imaginary.

    Age & Sex:
    Juvenile Immature Adult Age Unknown
    Male 1
    Female
    Sex Unknown
  58. Number observed: 12
Breeding Code: FL Recently Fledged Young (Confirmed)
    Age & Sex:
    Juvenile Immature Adult Age Unknown
    Male 4
    Female 2
    Sex Unknown 1
  59. Number observed: 9

Details: Saw one bird that might've been a juvenile, but may've also been a bedraggled female. It was too fast for me to get a great look at it. Lots of countersinging, agitated behavior.

Breeding Code: A Agitated Behavior (Probable)
    Age & Sex:
    Juvenile Immature Adult Age Unknown
    Male 5
    Female
    Sex Unknown
