Very conservative estimate. One large flock of 2000-plus scoped feeding/pruning on ground. 3 flocks of approx 500 flying over (calling when so). Others flying in pairs or flocks of up to 150 constantly joining and breaking off from large feeding flocks. Birds prefer damp areas with short (5-15cm) new growth just inside boundary fence. Once preferred habitat known, bird presence was almost predictable when stopped and scoped. I note an overseas birder recorded 150 at this location 10 days prior.
