Identification

A large, long-winged seabird of the southern oceans. Upperwing and back dark gray, underwing white with dark border, with white rump, gray tail, grayish bill with yellow tip, and dark eye. White crown, with rest of head very slightly grayer than the white body. Juvenile has gray head and neck, which fades to a gray collar in immature. Salvin’s Albatross similar but darker gray and with more ragged dark leading edge to underwing.
