A large, grayish brown dove with a pinkish breast. Named for the black patch with white spots on the neck. Similar to a Zebra Dove, but larger and has a broader tail with white tips on the outer feathers that the Zebra Dove lacks. Can look like a small raptor in flight, especially during the gliding courtship flights. The call is a slow series of low “coos.” Introduced to many islands including the Hawaiian Islands where it is abundant throughout urban and suburban areas on all of the main islands.
