New Britain Sparrowhawk Accipiter brachyurus

A small hawk with a relatively short tail, pointed wings, and long legs. Slate-gray above with a strongly reddish collar and very pale gray underparts. Ecology little known, but seems to depend on mature montane forest. Similar to Slaty-mantled Goshawk, but differs in its rufous collar and lack of orange-red bare skin. Separated from New Britain Goshawk by its smaller size, darker coloration both above and below, and lack of orange-red bare skin. Voice is unknown.
