   Too dark to make out what they were, flew over as I was first getting there. Probably mallards

   Continuing large wader. Found by Karen and Tom Beatty yesterday. The bird appears to be an immature due to color of bill (pale yellow). It was feeding on the south side of the road in an overflowing ditch, using the technique of kicking around in the shallow water with one leg, while foraging with its bill. During my observation, it ate something at least once.
