Checklist Comments

Certainly an unexpected highlight was our visit to the Malbun Ski area. While we only had about 45 minutes here in the afternoon, we were able to find several nice high elevation species including Alpine Accentor, a high flyover Yellow-billed Chough, and some redpolls. Oddly, the only Blackbird we saw in the country was at this high alpine site.

Probably the highlight of birding here 5 different Alpine Accentors. We first heard two individuals singing soft subsongs, which were ventriloquial and difficult to locate. After a couple minutes, we finally found one bird singing the deck, and found another a few minutes later on the roof of the same building. As we walked around the ski area, we found three more all loosely in the same area near a small feeding station (but not at feeders).
