Swelteringly hot. Rode bike out to happily find buff-breasted sandpiper just where Bob Ake described (impoundment pool H). Was most of the way back when I met Rob walking out, and was swayed to go back for a second look. Closer looks the second time! Also spent quite a bit of time at the shorebird gathering within sight of the parking lot, left side going out.

    Details

    Continuing bird found by Bob Ake. Beautiful dove-like tan sandpiper with dark scalloping on head and back. Interesting head shape, especially lower jaw. Impoundment H is on the lefthand side of the north dike road, just after a sharp turn to the right and another to the left (about a mile and a half or more, in).
    If you go carry lots of cold water and take care, it's brutal out there.
    A lifer and bird #300 for the year for me!
