   Details

   adult flyover; as I reached the top of the dell, to the south of the pond, a large bird with strong flight and unmistakable white head and tail flew over the trees; a brief but good view in the clear light. It quickly flew the length of Leverett Pond, and by the time I had run back to its southern tip, it had reached the northern part where I had a distant view of it and the spooked wildfowl. It didn't reappear, flying off north, but when I later reached that part of the pond, a couple of photographers said they also saw it, with one of them capturing a great photo of it; I tried to get photos but ended up with blurry sky shots. A long hoped for site and state-tick!
