About eBird

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

The USFWS is the principal Federal agency responsible for conserving, protecting and enhancing fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. Within the Service, the Division of Migratory Bird Management is specifically charged with conserving migratory bird populations in sufficient numbers that they do not become endangered and so that citizens may continue to enjoy the recreational opportunities that they provide. By working both nationally and internationally with a host of partners and through networks like Partners in Flight, the Migratory Birds program helps to provide a solid foundation of biologically sound conservation planning, community-based landscape design, and bird population monitoring.
