Map quiz 10 shows a year-round map for a widespread species that breeds in the high arctic, and appears to winter largely in the Lower 48.
When looking at this map, the most obvious thing that stands out is the well-defined migration corridor stretching from the Great Lakes south to peninsular Florida. This nearly straight route with low occurrence on either side is unique to just one species--the Sandhill Crane. Various subpopulations of Sandhill Crane occur in North America, and each has a distinct breeding and winter range. While the pattern in the West is a bit more confused, the eastern birds that migrate to and winter in Florida are well represented here.
