Save the date: 2017 Australasian Ornithological Conference (8-11 November)

Rufous Bristlebird near Geelong, VIC by DSHovorka/Macaulay Library

The Australasian Ornithological Conference (AOC) is a biennial event for anyone interested in the study and conservation of Australasian birds.

The 2017 conference provides a forum for ornithologists and conservationists to exchange research findings and ideas, and is a golden opportunity to meet and network with many of the top bird researchers from Australia and New Zealand. Non-researchers, including wildlife managers, photographers and bird enthusiasts, are also welcome and encouraged to participate in this scientific conference.

The conference will include a range of field trips to explore the unique birdlife around Geelong–a must for keen birders visiting the region. You may find this a good occasion to expand the scope of your eBird lists while in the company of other dedicated birders.

Full details are still being confirmed, and will soon appear on the official conference website. For now, make sure you save the date! The conference will be held at Deakin University in Geelong, Victoria from 8-11 November 2017 and is supported by Birdlife Australia and Birds New Zealand. Students wanting to attend may be eligible for travel funding from Birdlife Australia or Birds New Zealand.
